Who We Are
The purpose of the Iowa City Mosque (Masjid Al-Iman) is to carry out worship, educational, and charitable activities in the Iowa City area, in conformity with the pure teachings of Islam based upon the Noble Qur'an, the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings be upon him), as understood and applied by his companions (may Allah be pleased with them), and those that followed them in excellence from the next two generations. The activities of the Iowa City Mosque include but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct religious services, and prayers;
- Teach and disseminate the religion of Islam to both Muslims and non-Muslims;
- Conduct funeral and burial services;
- Foster and strengthen unity and goodwill among all Muslims; and
- Promote goodwill and understanding between Muslims and followers of other faiths.
Our History
For over 27 years, Al-Iman Center of Iowa City Mosque has served the growing Muslim community of Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty and the surrounding by providing a place for the worship of Allah (SWT).
We are not an affluent community and most members of our community are either students or low income earners. We do not get any kind of support from outside of our community.

Organization
The Iowa City Mosque is a non-membership organization and is opened to all Muslims.
The leadership of the Iowa City Mosque consist of the following:
A. Executive Committee President
The Executive Committee consist of the committee heads as determined in accordance with the By-Laws. The position of Imam is vested in one individual to serve as the spiritual leader of the Iowa City Mosque, as determined and defined by the By-Laws. The Board of Trustees consist of three permanent members, and two rotating members as determined in accordance with the By-Laws.
